Step by step
01Start a project
An Easy Meta project keeps four files of the same vehicle together: vehicles.meta (model, textures, cameras and flags), handling.meta (mass, transmission, brakes, suspension), carcols.meta (modkits, lights, sirens) and carvariations.meta (colours, liveries, light IDs).
You have two ways in. “Import the file” opens the METAs you already have. “New project” generates all four files, linked together, from a starter profile for cars; its values are a starting point, not the settings of a car from the game.
02Find the field you want
On the left you pick the file and the entry: the vehicle, a modkit, a siren setting. On the right you see its fields, grouped.
The search understands both game names and plain words: type “mass” or fMass and you land on the same field. Each field comes with a short explanation and its limits.
03Edit without breaking the XML
A valid field updates the XML right away. A wrong one stays marked until you fix it or press Escape, so invalid XML never reaches the project.
Collections are edited as lists: “Add modkit”, “Add siren setting”, “Duplicate entry”. Deleting can be undone with Ctrl+Z.
When you’d rather type, “Edit XML” opens the editor. “Apply XML” accepts the text only when it’s valid; fields the studio doesn’t know stay as they were.
04Compare and check
The preview shows “Original XML” and “Resulting XML”, so you see exactly what you changed. Changed fields carry a mark, and “Restore” brings them back.
The problem list catches required fields left empty, duplicate identifiers, IDs out of range and a few handling mistakes, for example suspension limits set the wrong way round. The package won’t export while you have errors.
05Save and export
“Save JSON” downloads the project (Ctrl+S does the same) so you can pick it up later. “Download XML” and “Copy XML” give you a single file.
“Export the package” builds a ZIP with all the project files and a ready-made fxmanifest.lua. Easy Meta is free for every account, no credits.
Questions
How do I know if my handling is too strong or too weak?
In the Handling tab, “Compared with the game” puts every value on the bar of the chosen car’s class: from minimum to maximum, with the band where 80% of the cars sit. Values outside the class show in yellow. “Take …’s values” copies that car’s handling over yours, without its name and without the seat position; Undo reverts it.
I imported a file and some fields are missing.
Easy Meta shows the fields it knows. The rest stay in the XML exactly as they were, and you see them in “Edit XML”.
Why won’t my hand-written XML apply?
The text isn’t valid XML or has a value outside the limits. The studio doesn’t replace the project with a broken file; the message names the line with the problem.
Are the “New project” values the Sultan’s?
No. They are a starter profile for cars, so you have a vehicle that drives. Adjust them for your model.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Easy Meta is free for every account, exports included.
